Pre-selection for 2014 Exhibition
Figurative art is more than ever at the forefront of contemporary art practice and is always a subject of debate. With many high profile art prizes tending towards conceptual and abstract works, The Threadneedle Prize deliberately sets out to examine figurative art today producing a comprehensive current survey.
The Threadneedle is viewed as one of the most prestigious art prizes in the UK today and its panel of selctors comprises the highly regarded arts commissioning editor and an art critic at The Times, Nancy Durrant, Internationally exhibited and collected sculptor, Kevin Francis Gray; independent advisor and curator of the Hiscox Collection, Whitney Hintz and finally, gallerist and founder of Art Dubai, John Martin.
The selection process is in two parts, initially a digital submission determines which artists are pre-selected, then the selection panel see the works in person to determine the final pieces for the 2014 exhibition. I am pleased to announce that my painting 'Hearthold' has been pre-selected from this initial process. Fingers crossed to get through to the 2014 exhibition!
